At the McCormick Research Institute in Osceola County, the Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and competition to children and adults 8 years of age and older with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The Heavenly Hooves Program serves special needs individuals though PATH-certified instruction to: “Develop fine and, gross motor skills through petting and grooming, encourage expressions of positive emotions, teach cooperation, increase tactile tolerance and awareness, increase expressive language skills, encourage reach, capture, and manipulation of objects, build self esteem, encourage gestures and/or sounds, and increase vocabulary.”
