In the below sections you will find information about the required medical instruments for all UCF College of Medicine M.D. program students, as well as some information on textbooks and laptops.


Required Medical Instruments (The Doctor’s Bag and Suture Kits)

Doctor’s Bag

At the UCF College of Medicine, all students are required to have certain medical instruments for the curriculum. The below information includes the list of required items. Please note, M1 students are provided a stethoscope.

Suture Kits

Suture kits are required for M1 students.  Suture kits will be provided for students by the College of Medicine.

Technology

The UCF College of Medicine provides each M.D. Program student with an iPad, laptop and a backpack that will be issued to them during orientation. This laptop is provided as part of the required technology fee that each student is assessed. The laptop will be pre-loaded with software necessary for the curriculum.

Students who have questions or concerns about their laptop or software should contact the UCF COM IT Help Desk at (407) 266-4357 or email them HealthIT@ucf.edu. The UCF COM IT Help Desk is located on the third floor. Students who have questions or concerns about their iPad should contact the UCF COM Health Sciences Library.

Textbooks

Students are expected to acquire a set of required textbooks. It is recommended to retain textbooks from the previous years of medical school for use in future years. Additional textbooks may be added to the list at a later date.

Transportation & Parking

Vehicle Requirement

Students will be expected to attend preceptorships in the community, as well as complete clinical or research assignments with local teaching partners; in order to travel to their sites, students are required to have a valid driver’s license and access to a car while enrolled.

Parking Decals

  • In order to park on campus, an appropriate UCF parking permit must be obtained. Parking permits are virtual and available for 150 days or 365 days.

  • Students will be expected to attend preceptorships in the community, as well as complete clinical or research assignments with local teaching partners; in order to travel to their sites, most students have found that it is necessary to have a personal vehicle.
