The Saint Thomas Aquinas Free Medical Clinic (STA) is partnered with the UCF College of Medicine’s chapter of the Catholic Medical Association and Catholic Charities of Central Florida. Located in Saint Cloud, FL, we serve the medically uninsured community of Osceola County by providing general and specialized medical care, case management, preventative health education programs, and referrals to both specialists and community social services. We are also professionally staffed by volunteer healthcare providers from Osceola Regional Medical Center, Orlando VAMC, and various private practices across Florida. Since the clinic opened in February of 2008, STA has served over 1,000 patients annually and has quickly established itself as a pillar of good service and wellness promotion in the Osceola community.
As volunteers at STA, our medical students are highly encouraged and assisted in developing confidence and independence in their medical knowledge and physical exam skills under the guidance of a healthcare provider, who critiques and offers suggestions to the students for improvement. These same providers also teach the students about different ways health education and strong continuity of care can still be provided when resources are scarce. As UCF COM students, we are proud to be partnered with the Saint Thomas Aquinas Free Medical Clinic and are honored to be part of a robust and strong healthcare team.
