UCF Health Faculty Physician Practice has a new endocrinologist who is currently accepting patients needing care for conditions such as diabetes and diseases of the  thyroid, pituitary and adrenal glands. 

Dr. Hiram Maldonado-Rivera is practicing at the clinic’s East Orlando location. Board certified in internal medicine and endocrinology, he comes to UCF after caring for patients at Miami Endocrine Associates while also serving as part of the teaching staff of the Larkin Community Hospital Endocrinology & Metabolism Fellowship.

Dr. Maldonado-Rivera graduated with honors with a Bachelor’s Degree in Natural Sciences in Biology, Human Focus from the University of Puerto Rico at Bayamón. He received his M.D. degree at Universidad Central del Caribe School of Medicine in Bayamón, Puerto Rico. He did his medical internship at Manatí Medical Center at Manatí, PR, where he was named medical intern of the year. He did his internal medicine residency atHospital Damas in Ponce, Puerto Rico and his endocrinology fellowship at Larkin Community Hospital in Miami, where he served as chief fellow.

He also served as an adjunct faculty for Nova Southeastern University College of Pharmacy, Puerto Rico Campus in San Juan, PR. He is a member of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists and the Endocrine Society where he has presented in the conferences of both societies.

UCF Health Faculty Physician Practice is the College of Medicine’s clinical entity, providing primary and specialty care for patients across the community. It has two locations – in East Orlando just blocks from the UCF main campus – and in Lake Nona.
