Project #1

🚀 Ready to Predict Success?

We’ve just wrapped up development on a cutting-edge risk calculator built from data spanning eight graduating classes at UCF College of Medicine. This smart tool analyzes class rank and CV highlights—like volunteerism and research output—and it’s already showing off with over 90% accuracy. Now, it’s primed for real-world testing.

🔧 What’s Next?

We’re looking for a driven student to help shape the future of this tool. The project involves designing a sleek workflow, running usability tests on a working prototype, and gathering rich qualitative and quantitative insights from key stakeholders. The goal? To prove its value and fuel continuous improvement.

🎯 Why Jump in Now?

If you’re eager to accelerate your FIRE progress, this is your moment. The next round of M3 students submit their CVs for internal Match advising in January 2026—making this the perfect time to make an impact.

Project #2:

📈 Research Is Booming—But Why?
Since the national shift to Pass/Fail USMLE Step 1, UCF College of Medicine has seen a 40% surge in student research output over the past three years. And it’s not just us—similar trends are popping up across the country. Yet, oddly enough, this spike hasn’t translated into more residency interviews.

đŸ€ Partnered with UCF IRB, this project dives deep into the why. Is the rise in research driven by FIRE requirements? Career ambitions? Genuine passion? Or a mix of all three? And what’s the opportunity cost of investing more time in research as a med student?

🧠 What’s the Plan?
We need a sharp, curious mind to help design a thoughtful study—deciding what data to collect, when, and from whom. This includes both qualitative and quantitative approaches to uncover what’s really motivating students.

đŸ”„ Why It Matters
This is a hot-button issue nationally, with real potential to shape how we advise students—both here at UCF and across the country.
