- College of Medicine Featured Preceptors Student Affairs
We continue our series featuring community physicians who serve as preceptors at UCF’s College of Medicine. Today we highlight Dr. Darwin Ang, a surgeon at HCA Florida Ocala Hospital.
Preceptors play a key role educating third- and fourth-year medical students through clerkship, elective and acting internship training.
Dr. Ang graduated from the University of Florida College of Medicine’s Medical Scientist Training Program, with a combined M.D./Ph.D. and research honors. He holds a Master of Public Health from the University of Washington and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Florida State University. Dr. Ang’s post-graduate training includes a General Surgery Residency at the University of Florida and a fellowship in Trauma and Surgical Critical Care from the University of Washington.
He is board certified in surgical critical care. Dr. Ang is a Professor of Surgery in the College of Medicine, where he serves as Site Director for the third-year surgery clerkship. He is also founding Program Director of the General Surgery Residency at HCA Florida Ocala Hospital and HCA Florida West Marion Hospital. That residency is part of the UCF-HCA Healthcare Graduate Medical Education Consortium, one of the fastest growing residency and fellowship programs in the state. Multiple College of Medicine graduates have matched into residencies in Ocala in both categorical and preliminary positions.
