- Burnett School College of Medicine Faculty News Philanthropy
This Thursday, April 10, is UCF’s Day of Giving – an opportunity to support everything we love about our medical school.

Your gift can support scholarships, innovative research, clinical programs that serve our community and many other efforts. Choose the program that means the most to you.
“Whether your gift is big or small, it matters,” said Dr. Deborah German, vice president for health affairs and College of Medicine dean. She urges medical school faculty, staff and students to see if we can reach 100 percent participation and “show our university how much we care.”
Day of Giving also gives you a chance to show your competitive spirit. For 24 hours, we’ll compete with other colleges and programs across the university for overall rankings and bonus funds. Here are the competitions we’re trying to win:
- Are you a night owl? From 1-2 a.m., the college with the most “Late Knight” gifts earns bonus funds. These go back into College of Medicine programs.
- Are rockets, astronauts and space medicine research your thing? From noon until 1 p.m., share a photo or video on social media of how you celebrate UCF as SpaceU and use the hashtag #UCFDayofGiving. You could win a drawing for more bonus funds.
- Are you a first-time giver to Day of Giving? Make a gift from 3-4 p.m. and the med school can be in the running for bonus funds. Another plus – that’s the day and time our Health Sciences Library serves popcorn. So grab a snack and make a gift.
- Your pet(s) can even get in on this event. From 7-8 p.m., post a photo of your UCF pet on social media with #UCFDayofGiving.
On Thursday, you can learn more at https://day.ofgiving.ucf.edu/organizations/college-of-medicine. Here you’ll find information on various College of Medicine funds. There are many choices. For example, your gift can support the Student Help Fund that provides relieve to medical students facing emergencies. It can support undergraduate students going through recovery as they get their degrees. You can support wellness programs for our residents and fellows. There are funds that support patients at our community clinics. For example, a $10 gift can buy digital thermometers for a mother in need. The medical school has multiple funds that support research into conditions like cancer, infectious and neurological diseases. And there are funds that provide needed scholarships so we can continue to attract the best and brightest students to our programs. The PDF below shows all of our funds. So support what you value because health matters to us all.
