Food, Fun and Hats at Moss Park
ORLANDO, April 30, 2010 — About 100 members of the College of Medicine team and their families gathered Saturday for the 3rd Annual Faculty and Staff picnic at Moss Park. This year’s theme was “Hats Off to the College of Medicine” so the event came complete with everyone wearing silly, funny and favorite hats.
The weather was beautiful and the pot luck food plentiful with pasta salads, coleslaw, dips and desserts. The picnic also featured a snow cone machine, swimming, games and an air-filled bounce house with obstacle course. Not only did the kids enjoy the house, but check the College of Medicine Shared Folder for some photos of our bouncing big kid colleagues!
In her welcome, Dean Deborah German noted that we will soon move into the new College of Medicine building – our family home just down the street from Moss Park in Lake Nona’s new medical city. Speaking of family, we were also joined by a gaggle of curious sand hill cranes that brought their fuzzy baby to see what was up with all the hats and fun.
Our thanks to the College of Medicine Social Committee for organizing the event and especially to Social Committee Chair Tammy Smith. She has served as the group’s leader the past two years and is now turning over the reins to two new co-chairs: Virginia Bagley and Tammy Simonson.
