Faculty Winners – And a Missing Trophy
Congratulations to the UCF College of Medicine faculty for winning the inaugural Med One Bowl!
Earlier this month, nearly 100 guests attended a college picnic to welcome the Class of 2014. After a week of getting settled, students had the opportunity to mix and mingle with faculty members and administrators and to break in the Tavistock Green.
Dr. Deborah German, dean of the College of Medicine and vice president for medical affairs, kicked off the event with a ceremonial first pass of the football. Dinner at the café followed, featuring a new COM Anatomy Salad. Ingredients included kidney beans, potato skins, elbow macaroni, heart of palm, “cell”-ery, black-eyed peas, ear of corn, and heads of broccoli and cauliflower in what is hoped will become an annual dining tradition.
After dinner, the competition between faculty members and students got serious with a Corn Hole and Ladder Golf mini-tournament. It was a close competition, but in the end, faculty members were victorious and received the coveted Med One Bowl Trophy to display in the Faculty Suite on the fourth floor.
However, just as COMmunique’s deadline approached, we received a report that the trophy had been stolen. The perpetrators left a note reading, “Faculty – if you want your trophy back, meet us at the Tavistock Green to play some real games. You name the games, you name the date. Pick your Poison: Tug of War, Kickball, Ultimate Frisbee, 3-Legged Race, Ping Pong or Capture the Flag.” The challenge was signed simply, “MS1.”
Stay tuned. The saga continues.
