Associate Professor Lindsay Taliaferro, a Population Health Sciences expert at the College of Medicine, is one of three UCF faculty recognized as Rising Stars by the Academy of Science, Engineering and Medicine of Florida (ASEMFL) for the impact they’ve had on their fields of study.

Dr. Lindsay Taliaferro (center) was honored for addressing social inequities and health disparities among LGBIQ+ youth. She is a faculty member in the College of Medicine’s Population Health Sciences Department.

Honorees are selected based on their academic and scientific contributions to the field as well as their potential to become future ASEMFL inductees. This year, 19 Rising Star awards will be given to mid-career academics from public and private universities in the state.

Dr. Taliaferro was recognized for her work addressing social inequities and health disparities among LGBIQ+ youth and by identifying modifiable factors that protect them against suicide and facilitate healthcare utilization.
