Dr. Michael Deichen has been named the College of Medicine’s new Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs.

“Dr. Deichen has shown excellent leadership in the interim role of this important position, and we believe his appointment will strengthen our clinical operations and provide consistent leadership as we build the new UCF Health brand,” said Dr. Deborah German, vice president for health affairs and medical school dean.
Dr. Deichen will continue with oversight of UCF Health Student Health Services and serving as the Chief Public Health Officer for the university as a whole.
Dr. Deichen has served the university, medical school and community with extensive clinical leadership experience. He is a professor of Family Medicine at the College of Medicine and has a long history of research and educational efforts. He has held various national leadership roles within the American College Health Association. Under Dr. Deichen’s leadership, UCF Health Student Health Services is broadly recognized for the quality of care it provides. An accredited ambulatory healthcare organization, it has more than 70,000 patient visits a year for primary and specialty care, including dentistry, behavioral health, physical therapy, pharmacy and other services. Dr. Deichen led the university’s public health efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic. Before joining UCF, Dr. Deichen has served as a chair of Family Medicine at Physician Associates in Central Florida and was a Lead Physician at the Orlando VA.
Dr. Deichen earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at the University of Florida and his M.D. at the University of South Florida. He completed his residency in Family Medicine at the University of Florida. He also holds a Master of Public Health Degree from the University of South Florida.
