Biography

Karen Smith has been employed by the University of Central Florida (UCF) since July 2008. She serves as the Senior Administrative Officer for UCF Health Affairs and the College of Medicine. In this role, she functions as the Chief of Staff for the College. Karen is a voting member of the Enterprise, the leadership team for the college, the UCF Academic Health Sciences Center Executive Council, and serves as an ambassador for the College and the UCF Academic Health Sciences Center in a variety of academic, healthcare, corporate, and community settings. She is a member of the founding staff at the College.

Karen is the first to serve as the Senior Administrative Officer. After graduating from college Karen joined United Healthcare where she served as a Corporate Trainer for West Coast Operations and later as a District Manager for Indiana Operations.  Prior to joining UCF, she served in management for Reed Elsevier and Harcourt School Publishers. Karen earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Purdue University. She is Lean Six Sigma certified.
