Sandra Major, human resources coordinator for administrative services at the College of Medicine, has been recognized for achieving a high level of expertise in the field.

She has earned the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification from the HR Certification Institute (HRCI), an internationally recognized certifying organization for the human resource profession.   The certification demonstrates mastery in HR management, policies and procedures, and a commitment to high professional standards.

“The HR field has evolved from just being a personnel department to becoming a strategic partner with other departments to contribute to an organization’s success,” said Sandra, who began her career with University of Central Florida in 2006 and joined the College of Medicine as an HR coordinator in January 2008.

To earn her certification, Sandra enrolled in a monthlong course through UCF’s Division of Continuing Education and participated in further study through the HRCI. She then took a test to receive her certificate of achievement and HR credentials.

“Sandra’s significant accomplishment of becoming a Certified Professional in Human Resources required a high level of dedication and effort,” said Scott Sumner, the college’s associate dean for administration and finance. “We are very proud of Sandra’s accomplishment, and we value her important contributions to the college.”
