First-year M.D. student Farah Dosani produced a radio story for Orlando NPR Station 90.7 FM that discusses the impact of health reform on medical students and practicing physicians. The piece featured interviews from first-year students Joe Gill and Christin Giordano and Dr. Maria Cannarozzi, associate professor of internal medicine and medical director of UCF Health, the College of Medicine’s physician practice.
Before entering medical school, Farah worked as an NPR health reporter and so 90.7 FM contacted her recently about doing a story on health reform from a student’s perspective.
In the piece, “New Docs Consider Shape of Medicine Going Forward,” students and clinicians talked about how the Affordable Care Act will expand health care to millions of Americans and how changes in federal re-imbursement rates could impact patient care.
But whatever the changes, Dr. Cannarozzi said she tells medical students that nothing will impact her core job: “taking care of people one person at a time.”
