Biomedical Sciences undergraduate Sun Latt is one of two UCF students selected for the prestigious Goldwater Scholarship, which honors select candidates nationwide pursuing careers in STEM fields.
Latt is determined to use science to help people heal more completely from bone injuries. He is involved in a interdisciplinary research project with Associate Professor of Medicine Dr. Mehdi Razavi that involves a novel nanoparticle incorporated into magnesium orthopedic implants that will help bone heal faster. His ultimate goal is to complete medical school an earn a doctorate degree in tissue engineering to ultimately created new therapeutic devices.

This year’s Goldwater Scholarships were awarded to only 441 sophomores and juniors across the country from a pool of 5,000 applicants. Recipients receive $7,500 for each remaining undergraduate year and, more importantly, validation of their research and academic work in STEM fields.
