Dr. Annette Khaled, who leads the UCF College of Medicine’s Cancer Research Division, has been recognized as a Pegasus Professor, the university’s highest honor.

She will be recognized during Founders’ Day, which is April 1.
Dr. Khaled is leading the fight against cancer through bold, translational science. As professor of medicine, she leads efforts to develop targeted therapies for aggressive breast, lung, and prostate cancers.
Since joining UCF in 2002, Dr. Khaled has focused on metastasis, the process by which cancer spreads from an original tumor to other parts of the body, causing death. Her lab pioneers nanotechnology and immunotherapy-based approaches to precisely identify and eliminate spreading cancer cells. “I want to help people,” she says. “I want to make a difference.”
