Biography
Dr. Heather Fagan is a distinguished pediatric critical care physician and award-winning medical educator. She is Pediatrician-in-Chief at Nemours Children’s Hospital, Florida and the hospital’s designated institutional official for graduate medical education.
Dr. Fagan joined Nemours Children’s in 2014 to develop a graduate medical education infrastructure there. Under her leadership, the hospital achieved institutional accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education in 2016. She has since overseen the successful accreditation of the pediatrics residency program and multiple subspecialty fellowships, as well as the administration of medical student educational programs and the training of more than 200 visiting residents and fellows annually. She served as interim Chair of Pediatrics from 2020–21 and again this past year.
She received her M.D. degree from Chicago Medical School and performed her residency at Comer Children’s Hospital/University of Chicago Medicine. She went on to complete a fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care at the University of Chicago Medical Center. Dr. Fagan is double board-certified in Pediatrics and in Pediatric Critical Care by the American Board of Pediatrics.
