On Saturday, Aug. 6, some 100 young scientists will graduate from the Burnett School of Biomedical Sciences during UCF’s Summer 2022 commencement. Those earning degrees include 88 undergraduates and 18 master’s and Ph.D. students.
Approximately 3,900 degrees will be conferred during three UCF ceremonies Aug. 5-6 held in the Addition Financial Arena. Burnett graduates will be honored at the 8:30 a.m. ceremony on Saturday.
“The 18 Masters and PhD summer graduates are part of 40 total graduates from our Biomedical Sciences Graduate Program in this academic year,” said Dr. Saleh Naser, Burnett’s associate director of graduate studies. “We are grateful to their mentors and all faculty – especially those who served on the student committees – for their valuable role in training tomorrow’s colleagues.
Dr. Naser also noted that the College of Medicine will welcome 46 new master’s and Ph.D. students into the Biomedical Sciences Graduate Program this fall.
The commencement ceremony will be streamed live on UCF’s Facebook and YouTube pages and will be archived on YouTube afterward. The commencement speaker is Paul Sohl, CEO of the Florida High Tech Corridor Council, a UCF-led economic development initiative.
The Burnett School offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs in biomedical sciences, biotechnology and medical laboratory sciences. Graduates enter jobs in research and medical labs, continue onto medical, veterinary and other related professional schools, or pursue further post-graduate studies to become research scientists.
