UCF Health’s growing dermatology services now include laser treatment with the Cutera Excel V, offering a fast and advanced method to rid your skin of imperfections. People seeking healthier looking skin are often faced with the untenable options of invasive medical procedures associated with undesirable side effects or costly cosmetic creams and makeup that only temporarily mask the underlying condition. With laser treatment, these skin concerns are efficiently treated with little to no pain, and very little down time. And the best part is you can see results in as little as one treatment.

These amazing results come from a high-power green and infrared laser to precisely treat acne scars, broken capillaries, spider veins, freckles and skin discoloration. The laser light is absorbed by abnormal blood vessels in the skin, which heats and eliminates the vessels, ultimately improving skin tone and color. By incorporating the latest in cooling technology, specialists can deliver higher doses directly to the affected area with less pain than a traditional laser system.  This technology has been proven effective in treating a wide range of skin conditions, including rosacea, facial and leg veins, port wine stains, cherry angiomas and telangiectasia.

While non-laser treatment options exist for these skin conditions, such options are associated with significant limitations. For example, spider leg veins are most commonly treated by sclerotherapy, an invasive procedure that requires patients to wear compression stockings after treatment and includes an injection.

“When patients see the results of the laser, they often say they wish they had known about it sooner,” said Dr. David Weinstein, dermatologist at UCF Health, the College of Medicine physician practice.

Dr. Weinstein completed extended studies in procedural dermatology through a fellowship following his standard dermatology training. This enhanced knowledge and experience allows him to offer patients a variety of solutions for all their skin concerns.

Laser services are available at UCF Health’s Lake Nona office location. For appointments, call 407-266-3627.
