October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the UCF College of Medicine invites university alums, supporters and the public to the latest MedTalk on October 7 devoted to finding a cure for a disease that impacts one in eight women. MedTalk is designed to share College of Medicine experts and research in a casual meeting place with plain language and a comfortable atmosphere for everyone.

October’s MedTalk features College of Medicine cancer researcher Dr. Annette Khaled who will talk about “Tackling Breast Cancer” at the City Arts Factory, 29 S. Orange Avenue, Orlando, FL 32801. Join us for good food, cold drinks and great conversation from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Space is limited and is on a first come first served basis. Appetizers and drinks will be provided while supplies last.

Dr. Khaled’s research is focused on ways to kill metastatic – or spreading – cancers, which are the cause of death for most cancer patients. Her work has earned national recognition and grant funding, including support by the Auto Nation Cure Bowl, which will be played in Orlando on December 19. Proceeds from the game will support the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
