Is it really possible to die of a broken heart? Research says yes.
Broken heart syndrome is a weakening of the left ventricle that is usually brought on by severe emotional stress, usually from the loss of a loved one or a catastrophic event. Cardiovascular researcher at the Burnett School of Biomedical Science Dr. Stephen Ebert who has been studying this syndrome for more than a decade, was recently interviewed by Spectrum News about his research.
