Friday, December 16, is the deadline for donations for a medical mission trip to the Dominican Republic that includes a group of 17 UCF College of Medicine M.D. students.

The group is seeking donations of medicine, toiletries and toys for the trip to the Cibao region December 18-22. Items can be dropped off in the Student Affairs office.

Needed items include 20mg ibuprofen tablets; 325 or 500mg acetaminophen; chewable pediatric vitamins; Tums; Pepcid; eye drops; toothbrushes; toothpaste; floss; shampoo; soap; deodorant; feminine hygiene products; hand sanitizer; gender-neutral toys such as cards, notebooks or balls; inexpensive sunglasses; clothing; snack-size, zip-lock bags;, and Sharpie markers.

The UCF group also includes two nursing students, two graduate public health students, two medical faculty members and one nursing faculty member.  The group will establish a health clinic for the region’s residents and set up an electronic medical records system so each patient’s care can be followed on return trips.
