Call Her Dr. Madsen

ORLANDO, June 25, 2010 — Congratulations to Ruthanne Madsen, the College of Medicine’s director of student financial services, who recently received her doctoral degree in Higher Educational Leadership.

Ruthanne received her Ed.D. from Nova Southeastern University on June 12. She previously earned an M.B.A. from Stetson University.

“I like a challenge,” Ruthanne said of her six-year effort. “It was great to set an academic goal and then achieve it despite life’s obstacles.”

Ruthanne received word of her accomplishment the day before she went on maternity leave from UCF to begin what she calls “the best challenge of my life, motherhood.”

She said she sought her Ed.D. because “I have always worked in higher education. You feel younger when you work with students and those who are pursuing their degrees. It’s a rewarding feeling.”
