Program for Undergraduate Research Experience (PURE)
A large number of UCF undergraduates conduct biomedical research with faculty members in the Burnett School of Biomedical Sciences. With this experience, students gain a hands-on approach to learning science. Research provides students with the opportunity to apply their knowledge of biomedical science, to understand the scientific method, and to formulate an accurate view of the research experience.
PURE is a year-long program designed to further enhance the undergraduate research experience. This highly competitive program admits ~12 Biotechnology or Biomedical Sciences majors each year. As part of a community of undergraduate researchers, participants will have greater access to the faculty, will gain additional training in the practice and communication of science, will receive preparation for post-graduate education and career opportunities, and will be encouraged to present their work at scientific conferences.
