First Year Fellows

Sumalatha Nandikonda, MD

Dr. Nandikonda was born and raised in India and completed her medical degree from Osmania medial college, Hyderabad, India.


She completed her medical residency at Lankenau hospital in Philadelphia, PA and she has practiced as hospitalist for several years in Springfield, Missouri. She loves to travel, watch movies and spend time with family.

Special Interests: Myositis ,Vasculitis, Lupus.

Richard Medina Perez, MD 

Dr Medina Perez was born and raised in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He obtained his medical degree from Ross University and completed his Internal Medicine residency at HCA Florida Aventura Hospital. He was elected as on the chief resident of his program as a PGY-3 and has shown an interest in teaching and medical education. He has a special interest in the rheumatologic care and education in the Hispanic population. His a sports aficionado and on his free time likes to travel and try different types of foods.

Dr. Kathleen McCabe obtained her medical residency training at Saba University School of Medicine.

Dr. Ariail Schmitz obtained her medical residency training at Alabama School of Osteopathic Medicine.

Dr. Kathlyn Camargo Macias

Dr. Camargo Macias was born and raised in Barranquilla, Colombia. She obtained her medical degree from Universidad del Norte in her hometown and completed her internal medicine resident at UCF/HCA GME consortium in Orlando, Florida. During her residency, she developed an interest in teaching and medical education, so she decided to do a chief resident year at the Orlando VA Medical Center. During residency, she was inducted to the Chapman Chapter of the Gold Humanism Honor Society at the UCF College of Medicine. She has special interest in care of Hispanic patients with SLE and medical education. On her free time, she enjoys traveling with her fiancĂ©, working out in her Peloton bike, and watching documentaries.

Dr. Khal was born and raised in Nepal and completed his medical education from Tribhuvan University in Nepal. He completed his internal medicine residency at Queens Hospital, New York and he has practiced as a hospitalist in New Hampshire for several years.

His rheumatology interests include – Vasculitis, Dermatomyosititis, Scleroderma, Lupus
