Dr. Sandra Chesoni

2nd year fellow: Dr. Sandra Chesoni was born in Nairobi, Kenya and obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of South Carolina. She became interested in the molecular basis of disease and obtained a PhD in molecular genetics from UMDNJ (Now Rutgers). The focus of her studies was the posttranscriptional regulation of cytokines. She obtained her medical degree from the NJMS (Rutgers). In medical school she was drawn to the role immune dysregulation plays in disease and Rheumatology was a natural fit. She completed her residency at SUNY (Stony Brook) and learned about periodic fevers from Dr. Yao further cementing her interest in Rheumatology. Dr. Chesoni enjoys the tropical weather in Orlando which is reminiscent of her homeland. In her free time she enjoys cooking, exploring gourmet coffee shops and is starting an orchid garden on her balcony.

Dr. Ambreesh Chawla

2nd year fellow: Dr. Ambreesh Chawla grew up outside of Cleveland, Ohio and received his undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering at the University of Cincinnati. He attended medical school at Saint George’s University School of Medicine and completed his internal medicine residency training at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ. His academic interests include systemic lupus erythematosus, scleroderma, vasculitis, and medical education. Outside of medicine, he is an avid sports fan and enjoys traveling and spending time with his family.

Dr. Marcela Perez-Acosta

1st year fellow: Dr. Marcela Perez-Acosta was born and raised in Culiacan, Mexico. She obtained her medical degree from the Faculty de Medicina de la Universidad Autonomy de Sinaloa. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at St. Luke’s Hospital in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania where she received the ‘senior of the year’ and other teaching awards. She has a special interest in dermatomyositis and skin manifestations of rheumatologic diseases. She loves spending her free time baking, exercising and spending time with her husband and kids.

Dr. Ann George

1st year fellow: Dr. Ann Goerge obtained her medical degree from Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church Medical College, in Kerala, India. She completed her internal medicine residency at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, MA. Her academic interests include vasculitis, lupus and musculoskeletal ultrasound in the diagnosis and treatment of rheumatic diseases. She loves cooking, cross-stitching, spending time with family and exploring restaurants with different cuisines.
