The five story Burnett Building opened in 2009 thanks to a generous donation from Al and Nancy Burnett. It houses faculty research labs, including three Biosafety Level 3 laboratories, and a major transgenic animal facility. This cutting edge research facility is one of several buildings in the area that includes the College of Medicine Medical Education Building, the Sanford-Burnham Institute for Medical Research, the Veterans Administration Medical Center, and the Nemours Children’s Hospital. Each of this facilities are establishing vigorous biomedical research programs. Collaborations with these research institutions and other major Central Florida hospitals will facilitate the translation of laboratory findings into new cures for patients in Florida and beyond.
