Welcome to Dr. Ganti’s lab website!

We are a research team with a grassroots approach to research- when we encounter a problem or stumble upon an interesting finding, we search for the data behind it. Sometimes we are given tasks or get requests for work from other groups. However the idea comes by, we are enthusiastic about everything we do, and work hard to make our work accessible to others.

Our lab has been fortunate to receive continuous extramural funding for the last 15 years from various sources including the National Institutes of Health, the Department of Defense, the US Fulbright commission, Banyan Biomarkers Inc., the Toral Family Foundation, and Polk County Fire Rescue. Dr. Ganti is the Principal investigator on numerous protocols that optimize patient care.

We study everyday problems that face patients, and focus on ways to improve healthcare. Areas of study include:

Prehospital Emergency Care

The care received in the initial minutes after injury or illness can be critical. In partnership with Polk County Fire Rescue, we study the elements of field care that determine patient’s ability to survive to hospital arrival and beyond.

STROKE

Our team studies ways to optimize stroke care in the hyperacute phase, beginning with the pre-hospital arena, and then the emergency department. Projects focus on stroke triage scales, door to needle time, racial disparities in stroke, optimal management of intracerebral hemorrhage, and stroke registries.

COVID-19

The Pandemic that defined 2020 has impacted people in numerous ways, both physical and psychological.

  • Our Clinical Trial Polk COVID-19 and Flu Response (NCT 04682132) examines the symptomatology associated with COVID-19 and influenza seropositivity.
  • Our national survey of US College students reports on their mental health after COVID-19, and its impact on academic and job opportunities.v
QUALITY AND VALUE OF CARE IN THE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT

At the heart of healthcare are quality and value. Our team studies the implementation of best practices for standardization of practice based on evidence-based guidelines. We partner with the National Quality Committee of Envision Healthcare, as well as the American College of Emergency Physicians to produce guidelines to empower clinicians on the frontline.
