Ali Martin, MS-2
Our December student highlight features Ali [Alicia] Martin, a second year medical student at the UCF College of Medicine and currently one of our three Clinic Directors. The clinic directors are integral to the success of KNIGHTS clinic, as they coordinate operations of KNIGHTS clinic both inside and outside of clinic. They serve as floor managers during all clinic nights, and act as administrative directors outside of clinic. Additionally, they work with the rest of the board to develop unique opportunities for the entire student body of UCF College of Medicine that enhance the knowledge and understanding of working with an underserved community. Ali has been an outstanding leader for KNIGHTS Clinic this year, and we caught up with her to ask her about her experiences.
What do you enjoy most about volunteering at KNIGHTS Clinic?
“My favorite thing about volunteering at KNIGHTS clinic is the service that we are performing to help those in need. The patients are always incredibly grateful towards us throughout the whole process, which is a truly heartwarming experience.”
Do you plan to continue volunteering at free clinics once you become a physician? If so, has KNIGHTs clinic played a role in that decision?
“The role that the volunteer physicians play is crucial in overseeing the medical students and aiding in providing care to the patients. We are all so grateful that these busy physicians donate their time to the KNIGHTS cause. Motivated by this, I hope to continue volunteering at my local free clinic once I become a physician.”
Keep up the great work Ali! As always, stay tuned for future highlights!
