Dr. Mark Weatherly, MD

Our inaugural highlight features Dr. Mark Weatherly, MD. As our longest-serving physician volunteer at KNIGHTS Clinic, Dr. Weatherly has been a constant source of guidance for our student volunteers. Dr. Weatherly currently works in the Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine Department at Arnold Palmer Hospital at Orlando Health. Additionally, he teaches as an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the UCF College of Medicine, and is a Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the FSU College of Medicine. Dr. Weatherly also has volunteered in numerous Global Health Conferences at the UCF College of Medicine to run simulation sessions. We caught up with him to ask him some questions about his time with KNIGHTS Clinic.

How did you become involved with KNIGHTS Clinic?

“I first became involved in Knights Clinic when I learned they were partnering with Grace Medical Home where I was volunteering monthly.”

What is your favorite part about volunteering with KNIGHTS Clinic?

“I was excited for the opportunity to work with medical students, which of course is my favorite part! I always love opportunities to volunteer to see patients from underserved populations.”

Why do you think it is important to give back as a physician?

“We are blessed in this community to have enough health care providers to provide care to all those with limited access. Venues such as Grace Medical Home and the Knights clinic bring us to the same place to meet this need. I believe all physicians should be working to serve in their community above and beyond their regular practice. We have been given so much and the needs are so great.”

Dr. Weatherly’s words speak to his passion and drive to working with the underserved community, and giving back to the future generation of physicians. We truly appreciate all that he has done for our clinic, from the patients that he has touched to the students that he has inspired.

Stay tuned for future highlights!
