Areas of exploration will include but are not limited to HIV/sexually transmitted infections, substance use, inequity, mental health, and prevention of infectious disease. Global health practice and research is important because population dynamics such as migration and tourism can have significant impact on Florida communities and the US population.

Starting with the proximal Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) and Andean regions and expanding to other regions, UCF will develop a hub for global health practice and research through strategic partnerships with community, academic, government and non-governmental organizations.

Areas of exploration will include but are not limited to human immunodeficiency virus/sexually transmitted infections, substance use, inequity, diabetes, immigration, mental health, and prevention of infectious diseases such as COVID-19, Zika virus, Chikungunya and other emerging pathogens. UCF will provide a contemporary integrated model for global health amid evolving complex socio-political systems.
