The Community Engagement, Policy, and Translation Initiative aims to address and overcome challenges that currently limit the collective impact of our research on population health by fostering interdisciplinary, community-engaged, policy-relevant research with the ultimate goal of translating the lessons learned to improved population health and reductions in health disparities.

The Initiative supports community-engaged research that facilitates trust and fosters a sense of community. The Initiative will develop partnerships that integrate the voice of the community with the skillsets of partners within the UCF Population Health Collaborative. Initiative members and partners will engage in evidence-based research to address community needs to improve population health outcomes and reduce health disparities, using the resources developed from collaborations across disciplines and within the community, along with UCF support.

An integral part of extending our collective impact is engaging in policy-relevant research and working together to further the development and implementation of evidence-based health policy and decision-making. The Initiative supports rigorous policy research and bring researchers, policy makers, and other stakeholders in the public and private sectors together with the aim of bolstering evidence-based policy, practice, and decision-making to improve population health and reduce health disparities.

Understanding how and why interventions, programs, and policies reach (or fail to reach) their intended goals is critical to creating improvements in population health and reducing health disparities. To this end, the Initiative supports implementation research to identify strategies that facilitate the utilization of evidence-based research in policy and practice. Additionally, will support late-stage translation research to understand how to effectively translate research findings from the Population Health Collaborative into public health practice.
