The “Digital Health Innovation Initiative” represents an effort to establish a new capability for research, education, and healthcare transformation and bring together collective expertise across UCF to advance innovation and growth in the rapidly expanding field of digital health. This initiative aims to connect and empower people and populations to manage health and wellness and supports healthcare providers in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care by leveraging digital tools, technologies, and services that transform and advance healthcare, including mobile health, telemedicine, health informatics, digital therapeutics, health IT, robotics, simulation, sensors, artificial intelligence, and others. The proposed initiative will also  promote collective awareness about digital health innovation across the university and our region, create enablers for cross-disciplinary research collaboration and educational opportunities in the area of digital health, and facilitate the application and implementation of digital health solutions in clinical practice and community health programs. In response to the changing face of healthcare and its transformation needs at the local, national, and global levels and the lack of dedicated academic programs in this area in United States, there is an excellent opportunity for UCF to take a bold and timely step towards building a strong digital health infrastructure that cuts across the education, research, clinical care, and community health missions of the AHSC to advance population health initiatives.
