Privacy
All volunteers should follow HIPAA standards. Volunteers are cautioned to not discuss patient cases during clinic in public areas or outside of the clinical setting, doing so is a violation of the patient’s right to confidentiality. The exception is if it is focused for patient care and treatment and the patient has given their consent.
- Volunteers may not give out any personal information (phone numbers, addresses, etc.) about themselves or fellow volunteers to patients.
- Guests, friends, and family of staff members are not allowed at clinic out of respect to patients’ confidentiality and the efficient running of clinic.
