Biography

Paula Martínez de Pinillos is a researcher and interdisciplinary health scholar whose work bridges biomedical science, sociology, public health, and medicine. She currently serves as a Research Coordinator at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine, contributing to the Science Lab and research in clinical and population health.

She earned her B.S. in Biology, with a minor in Medical Sociology and a Certificate in Spanish for Healthcare Professionals, and her M.A. in Applied Sociology with a focus in Medical Sociology from the University of Central Florida.

Paula is continuing her academic training in Europe through EMOTION, an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Programme in Translational Cosmetic and Dermatological Sciences. Supported by the European Union, the program provides interdisciplinary training across European universities, integrating biomedical research, translational science, and innovation.

Her research focuses on mental health disparities, trauma, and the social determinants of health, particularly among underserved and historically marginalized populations. She previously served as a graduate research assistant in the STRIVE Lab and UCF’s Violence Against Women Cluster (VAWC), contributing to interdisciplinary research on interpersonal violence, health, and well-being.

As an aspiring physician-scientist, Paula aims to integrate clinical practice, research, and community engagement to advance equitable, culturally responsive healthcare and translate scientific research into meaningful improvements in the lives of the communities she serves.
