Biography
Maiara is a fourth-year Biomedical Sciences student at the University of Central Florida. Her research interests include substance use, women’s health, and the social drivers that influence health outcomes and healthcare access.
She currently serves as a research assistant on the Beyond project, which examines alcohol and marijuana use and associated risk and protective factors among young adults in Bolivia. Her previous research experience includes work focused on ethical data use and privacy in health research, as well as research examining women’s health disparities. She has presented her research at the Florida Undergraduate Research Conference, the UCF Student Scholar Symposium, and through the MMSP Summer Research Program at UCF.
Maiara aspires to pursue a career in medicine while continuing to engage in research addressing health disparities and improving care for underserved populations.
