Biography

Anabelle Santiago is a graduate of the University of Central Florida, where she earned her degree in Health Sciences with a Pre-Clinical track and a certificate in Spanish for Healthcare Professionals. Her research interests center on health disparities within Latino/Hispanic communities, substance use, and global health.

As a research assistant and lead research assistant for the Sc2ience Lab, Anabelle has contributed to projects examining cannabis and polysubstance use among populations in Latin America. In her leadership role, she has helped coordinate research activities while contributing to the development and preparation of ongoing projects. She has presented research at the National Institute on Drug Abuse International Forum and continues to contribute to research focused on understanding factors that influence health outcomes across diverse communities. Her experiences in research, clinical care, and global medical service have strengthened her interest in improving healthcare access both locally and internationally.

Anabelle plans to attend medical school and pursue a career as a physician with continued involvement in research and global medicine. She hopes to combine patient care with research while working with diverse and underserved populations. Through these experiences, she aims to contribute to a better understanding of health disparities and help improve the care available to communities in the United States and abroad.
