Program Director: Ashwin Shetty, MD
Program Overview: The UCF Cross-sectional Imaging Fellowship is a one-year program designed for Diagnostic Radiology residency graduates seeking subspecialty-level training in the modern imaging diagnosis of diseases of the chest, abdomen and pelvis with an emphasis on computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance (MR).
Competency will be achieved in multiphase CT/MR of the liver, kidneys, pancreas and adrenal glands; prostate MR; anorectal MR; MR/CT enterography; and CT colonography. Also included is ample volume of oncologic PET/CT. Elective time is available for neurologic and musculoskeletal CT/MR imaging.
Our fellowship-trained cross-sectional faculty will offer the fellow the opportunity for in-depth review of cases and extensive “at-the-box” teaching. The fellow will also have the opportunity to actively participate in multidisciplinary conferences in conjunction with the Departments of Oncology.
The fellowship is based at the state-of-the-art Orlando VA Medical Center located on the Medical City campus of Lake Nona, across the street from the UCF College of Medicine. This center is the hub of medical care for the veterans of central Florida and provides outpatient care, inpatient care and ICU-level care as well as one of the largest centers for residential care in the nation.
Our program also offers the unique opportunity to gain experience in systems management of a modern radiology department with exposure to policy/procedure implementations and imaging informatics that are crucial to the function of a busy VA facility. This specific experience with radiology administration offers the Fellow a unique competitive advantage when seeking future employment, particularly within the VA system.
Salary and benefits will be commensurate with an entry level Diagnostic Radiology position on the local Veterans Affairs pay scale.
