Dr. Cendán joined the University of Central Florida College of Medicine in July 2010 as a Founding Faculty member. His initial efforts were aimed at developing the Clinical Skills and Simulation Center, which he led as medical director until January 2015. He was also the Assistant Dean for Simulation from 2010 to February 2018. Dr. Cendan became the Chairman of the Department of Medical Education. He leads a department of twenty-six faculty members whose primary mission is to support the undergraduate medical education program at UCF-COM.

Dr. Cendán is a board-certified surgeon with a clinical focus on minimally invasive surgery and surgical disorders of the breast. His special interests include medical education and simulation. Dr. Cendán is an active researcher whose laboratory has active R01 grant funding from the National Institute of Health and the National Science Foundation.
