A true UCF Knight, Dr. Anya Andrews received her Ph.D. in Instructional Technology from the College of Education at the University of Central Florida in 2006. In 2001, she received her Masters of Communication degree from the Nicholson School of Communication at the University of Central Florida. Dr. Andrews later earned a Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification from the Project Management Institute.

Dr. Anya Andrews is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Director of Research Initiatives at the UCF College of Medicine. In this role, she leads research programs, involving faculty from the College of Medicine, other UCF colleges, and community partners. Dr. Andrews is an experienced leader of collaborative research initiatives within academic, private, and government sectors. She holds a solid track record of developing and implementing interdisciplinary research efforts, many of which have received international recognition. As an interdisciplinary cognitive scientist working at the intersection of education, engineering, psychology, and medicine, Dr. Andrews’s research agenda focuses on innovative solutions for health professions education, healthcare transformation, and health technology innovation. Dr. Andrews is an expert in human-computer interaction, simulation-based training, and instructional systems design and has served as a Principal Investigator and a Senior Research Scientist on a variety of sponsored research efforts. She has achieved great success in recent grant funding efforts and PI service, totaling over 25 awarded grants in the past ten years.

Dr. Andrews is a member of several professional organizations, including Lake Nona Medical City Research Council and National Center for Simulation. Upon the nomination of the UCF College of Medicine in 2016, she was honored with the “Women Who Mean Business” Award by the Orlando Business Journal, identifying her as one of the top women executives in Central Florida.  She has also been recognized by the UCF Center for Success of Women Faculty, as one of the “31 wonderful UCF women who have helped chart the course of UCF’s 50-year history”. During the 2015-2016 academic year, Dr. Andrews was selected to be a UCF Academic Leadership Academy Scholar by the UCF Office of Faculty Excellence.
