The UCF College of Medicine raised more than $2,800 for heart disease, helping the September 15 Orlando Heart Walk raise a total of $1.2 million for research and treatment of America’s leading killer of men and women.
UCF was a major participant in the walk, raising a total of $36,060.04 and registering 303 walkers. UCF Provost and Executive Vice President Tony Waldrop and Dr. Deborah German, vice president for medical affairs and dean of the College of Medicine, co-chaired UCF’s effort.
In addition to cash donations, the College of Medicine raised money through bake sales, two “Casual for a Cause” dress-down days, an arts and crafts sale and raffling of a Herman Miller Embody Chair, an agile chair designed specifically for people who work hours at computers. The winner of the chair was Admissions Director Rel Larkin.
